Congo's fractured war
Article Abstract:
The Congo war has become fractured and confused, involving seven neighboring countries. A peace treaty is due to be signed in Zambia in Jun 1999, but it is likely that it will not succeed in bringing peace. Congo president, Laurent Kabila, may agree to some compromises, but his allies, Namibia and Zimbabwe, may be less willing to do so. Meanwhile, Rwanda and Uganda have different goals in their involvement in the Congo war, backing different rebel factions.
