ConocoPhillips to sell Chinese onshore block

US petroleum firm ConocoPhillps has put its Sichuan province-based block in China up for sale in a rare instance of a Chinese asset being sold by a foreign company. The Chuan Zhong block totals 118 hectares and in 2006 averaged 10.3 mil cubic feet of gas daily. ConocoPhillips launched the sale in order to concentrate its efforts on an offshore block in Bohai Bay in northern China, currently the nation's largest oil field discovery by a foreign firm.

An Alaska North Slope oil spill from a petroleum pipeline has British Petroleum Company PLC of the United Kingom under investigation by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The oil spill was estimated at 134,000 to 267,000 gallons of crude oil at Prudhoe Bay.
