Article Abstract:

Models and policies for managing the procurement, production and distribution functions in the supply chain are considered. The models characterize problems such as batch size selection and transportation mode selection common in operational planning situations such as buyer-vendor coordination, production-distribution coordination and inventory-distribution coordination. Mixed-integer programming models for strategic planning are also discussed.

Logistic chain modelling

Article Abstract:

The application of operations research models and techniques to business process reengineering and integration of different logistic procedures is investigated. Specifically, the concept of integrated logistic chain modelling is reviewed. To optimize the turnaround time of the total logistic chain, two logistic laboratories were developed. One is the TASTE simulation tool while the other is a distribution planning support system.

Measuring and designing flexibility as a generalized service degree

Article Abstract:

Flexibility is evaluated in terms of production and operations and across hierarchical service levels. The measure developed to evaluate flexibility is characterized by an ordinal scale and general application to account for various flexibility factors and also integrates loss of goodwill. For multi-criteria situations, such a measure must consider both short- and long-term costs that depend on the expressed level of flexibility.
