Top agency CDs change partners

Three of Canada's top 12 advertising agencies have undergone changes in the creative director position. The agencies are Palmer Jarvis DDB, Cossette Communication-Marketing and Leo Burnett. The senior creative team at Palmer Jarvis, consisting of Ian Grais, Chris Staples and Tom Shephansky have formed their own firm called Rethink while Jeff Finkler left Leo to join Ogilvy and Mather. Brad Riddoch also left Cossette as vice-president and creative director to do more entrepreneurial work.

Cossette solidifies its grip on first

Cossette Communication Group Inc is once again the top advertising agency in Canada, according to the Institute of Canadian Advertising Agency Ranking in 1999. The Quebec City, Quebec-based ad agency posted $82.4 million in revenues in 1998, which is 23.4% higher than the $66.7 million in 1997. Winning the $60-million-billing Bell Ontario account in summer of 1998 was one major factor that helped the agency retain its number one position.
