Bosch Telecom Denmark, the Danish producer of mobile terminals, is discussing with several potential partners about the possibility of co-operation. The company is planning for expansion, and must be at least twice as big to survive in the long run, according to MD Peter Hinrup. If it doesn't find a partner, the alternative is to invest in a new plant in Pandrup

Ericsson and Nokia dominate the Danish mobile phone market with a 35% market share each. Motorola and Philips both have a 10% market share, whereas the remaining 10% is shared between other suppliers such as Bosch, Panasonic, Alcatel etc. In all, 1.2mn mobile terminals will be sold in Denmark in 1998, according to estimates by the trade organisation LRK. The number of new subscribers is stagnating, but many users purchase new terminals.

DENMARK: SIEMENS OPENS R&D CENTRE

Siemens has established a subsidiary in northern Jutland. The new company Danish Wireless Design (DWD) will develop mobile terminals and cordless terminals. So far, ten persons have been employed.
