DENMARK: DANISCO REMAINS "MARKET PERFORMER"
Article Abstract:
Danisco's acquisition of the Cultor group will initially have a negative effect on the company's result, according to an analysis by Goldman Sachs. Danisco is expected to report a net profit of DKr927mn (US$134.3mn) in 1999. Net profit is expected to fall to DKr852mn in 2000 and rise again in 2001 to DKr929mn. According to Goldman Sachs, the synergy effects of the acquisition of Cultor are estimated at DKr500mn divided over a period of three years. Goldman Sachs will retain its neutral ranking "market performer" for Danisco. If, however, Danisco will sell of its non-core operations Goldman Sachs could raise its ranking to "market outperformer". Goldman Sachs fear, however, that it could be difficult to get a good price for niche operations as many of them have shown signs of falling profits. At best, Danisco could earn DKr500mn from the sale of niche operations, according to analysts.
