DENMARK: CAPITAL INJECTION INTO DANISH CROWN
Article Abstract:
Danish Crown, the Danish slaughter-house group, is planning to let even foreign investors raise new capital for the company via its subsidiaries. Niels Mikkelsen, chairman of the boards, says this would be a realistic alternative, and even attractive for investors as part of Danish Crown's activities are located abroad. The money would be used for the development and marketing of existing operations, and possibly even for acquisitions. Among Danish Crown's subsidiaries are Tulip International, Plumrose, Ess-Food and Danish Prime. Niles Mikkelsen rejects rumours that Danish Crown is planning to acquire Malton, the British competitor, or another company.

DENMARK: INVESTMENT IN NEW SLAUGHTER-HOUSE
Article Abstract:
In April, the Danish company Danish Crown will decide about investing in a new, huge slaughter-house, which will replace several minor plants. The decision was planned to be taken in January, but has been postponed owing to low pork prices. In the past six months alone, Danish Crown has closed down two slaughter-houses at Ars and on the island of Samso respectively, and the slaughter-house at Ansager is to be closed down.
