DENMARK: DANISH CHEESE CONSUMPTION UP IN EUROPE
Article Abstract:
The consumption of Danish cheese is on the rise in Europe - particularly in Germany, England and Spain. Danish dairies boosted their cheese production by 4% to 305,000 tonnes in 2000 and the increase in the first half of 2001 was 7% to 156,700 tonnes. Cheese exports in the first half of 2001 report a 6% increase to 106,400 tonnes compared with the same period last year. These figures come from the Danish Dairy Board.

DENMARK:MINISTER PRAISES ARLA'S MOVE IN THE US
Article Abstract:
The Danish food minister Ritt Bjerregaard is lauding Arla Foods, the dairy giant, for its launch of two organic cheeses, a havarti type cheese and a blue cheese, in the US market. Two months ago, the minister criticised Arla for not doing enough to market organic products on the US market. She is hoping that Arla will launch more products in the US market.

DENMARK: ANNUAL RESULTS FOR DELIMO A/S

Delimo A/S, the Danish company that imports foreign cheeses to the Danish retail trade, hotels, restaurants and institutions in Denmark, reports a DKr7mn (US$853,600) profit in the fiscal 2000. Profit after tax was cut by 50% to DKr3mn. Majority shareholder in Delimo is Arla Foods.
