ANDHRA CEMENT COMPANIES RUSH FOR RMC PROJECTS
Article Abstract:
Cement companies in Andhra Pradesh are rushing to set up Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) projects, with Rajashree Cement Ltd being the first to do so. The Aditya Birla group company has set up its first RMC plant at a cost of Rs6 crore. The company introduced Birla Ready Mix in November 1998. Larsen & Toubro is setting up an RMC plant near Hyderabad while Priyadarshini Cement is also setting up an RMC plant at a cost of Rs7.5 crore. RMC is being preferred in Andhra Pradesh as it avoids wastage of raw material and congestion at the construction site. (khr)

ZUARI CEMENT PLANS Rs800-CR PLANT IN KARNATAKA
Article Abstract:
Zuari Cement, a part of Zuari Industries Ltd, plans to set up a three million tonnes per annum (tpa) greenfield plant at Gulbarga in Karnataka. The cost of the project is Rs800 crore. The move is part of the company's major expansion programme which envisages hiking its cement capacity to 10 million tpa. The company recently hiked the capacity of its Yerraguntla plant in Andhra Pradesh from six lakh tpa to 20 lakh tpa. It had invested Rs350 crore towards the expansion plan. (gs) (khr)
