DENMARK: HEDEGAARD HAS WON MARKET SHARE
Article Abstract:
Since entering the Danish fresh pasta market about a year ago, Hedegaard Foods has won nearly a 30% market share. The main competitor Tholstrup Cheese has lost market share to 55% from 65-67%. Tholstrup Cheese retains market share in other Nordic countries; in Norway and Finland 70% and in Sweden 67%, says sales and marketing director Peter Andersen. However, now Hedegaard Foods is planning to enter even the Swedish market as well as the UK and Germany, according to director Ivan Jorgensen. The aim is that exports account for 35-40% of turnover in 2000, compared with the present 15%.

Denmark: Inflation rate remains low
Article Abstract:
Inflation rate in Denmark is currently 1.9%, which is the lowest level since January 1999. Moderate price increases regarding consumers products - particularly energy and foods - contribute to the low inflation rate. Service prices, on the other hand, continue to rise at a rate of almost 3.5%, which is ascribed to continued high pay rises.
