DENMARK: LINDPLAST HAS BECOME PROFITABLE

LindPlast, the Danish producer of plastic foil for food industries, has made a significant turn-round in the past few years. For the fiscal 1998/99, the company reports a DKr 10mn (USD 1.3mn) profit before extra-ordinary items (even DKr 17mn after extra-ordinary items), compared with a DKr 3mn loss in 1996/97. Turnover has not been published. MD Jens Peter Gudiksen says the improvement is attributed to several things such as training of employees, improved hygiene standards, production control, new IT solutions etc.

Denmark: LindPlast to continue expanding

LindPlast, the Danish producer of plastic film and plastic bags to the food industry etc., is planning to continue expanding both through acquisitions and organically. The organic growth will take place on export markets. Recently, the company acquired Eng-Pack, another Danish packaging company. LindPlast has now reached a DKr 200mn (USD 24mn) turnover, and MD Jens P Gudiksen anticipates a DKr 225mn turnover in the fiscal 2001/2002.

DENMARK: 9% INCREASED RESULTS IN DANISH FARMING

So far in 2000, the results by the Danish agriculture total approximately DKr51bn (USD6.8bn). This is an increase by almost 9 % compared with the bad year 1999, according to Landskontoret for Driftsokonomi, the Danish administration for business economic issues.
