DENMARK: MEAT PRODUCERS FORM A NEW NETWORK
Article Abstract:
Danske Slagterier and Danish Crown, the Danish meat producers, have taken the initiative to form a new network of European meat producers. Initially, it is an informal network based on personal contacts between top executives in individual companies, says Danish Crown managing director Kjeld Johannesen. The companies included in the network are Inalca of Italy, Queally Dawn of Ireland, Socopa of France, ABC of France, Dumeco of Holland, Westfleisch of Germany, Moksel of German, Swedish Meats of Sweden and Danish Crown. Major meat producers in Spain and Finland are invited to join the co-operation at a later stage. According to Kjeld Johannesen, the initiative to form a network was prompted by the mad cow disease and swine-fever.
