DENMARK: PIG BREEDERS TO BOOST OVERSEAS INVESTMENTS
Article Abstract:
Danish pig breeders will boost their investments abroad due to restrictive Danish agricultural policy. So far, Danish farmers have invested between DKr400 and DKr500mn (US$58mn) in farming projects outside of Denmark. About 50% of Danish pig breeders are expected to be involved in pig breeding operations abroad in some ten years' time, according to Per Bach Laursen, head of the Association of Danish Pig Breeders. Danske Slagterier and Danish Crown agree with him saying such a development is highly realistic.

DENMARK: TIGHTER DEMANDS ON PIG BREEDERS
Article Abstract:
The demands on Danish pig breeders are to be tightened. According to Danish food minister Ritt Bjerregaard, the country's industrialized pig breeding industry is to be treated in the same way as the rest of the industry in Denmark. Today, certain breeders are exempted from regulations if their stock of pigs consists of fewer than 250 pigs. Similar loop holes must be stopped.
