Marlene Dietrich died May 6, 1992. He career began in her native Germany, but she soon left to find stardom in the Hollywood film industry. When she became and American citizen and entertained Allied troops, she became a traitor in the eyes of the German people and only returned home once, in 1960.

Tupac Shakur, self-styled 'gangsta' rapper, was the victim of a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, NV, shortly after attending a Mike Tyson heavyweight title bout. Shakur's death is viewed as the result of his insistence on living a life that was reflected on his violent brand of rap lyrics.

Indian film star Ashok Kumar, who has died at the age of 90, appeared in some 200 or even 300 films, and was known in India as 'Dadamoni' or 'respected elder brother. He modeled his acting on a more natural style, like that of the UK and US, rather than that common in India.
