Doctor Foster gets in trouble

Pres Bill Clinton has selected Dr Henry Foster to replace Dr Joycelyn Elders as surgeon-general. Elders had been pressured to resign because she held controversial views regarding sex education for children. However, Foster's apparent history of performing abortions may make him equally undesirable to the conservatives who wanted Elders out.

Bring on the dancing girls: conventions

Article Abstract:

The Democratic and Republican conventions do not seem to serve much real purpose anymore, as the candidates and platforms are decided well in advance of them. But for some reason the candidates do get a boost in the polls from them. Pres Bush will need a big bounce to get back into the race.
