Documentary evidence
Article Abstract:
The new Standard Form of Agreement for the Appointment of an Architect (SFA/92) has been issued by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Lawyers and insurers welcome the contract from the architect's point of view. Architects welcome many features of the document but fear it may deter potential clients. One of the aims of the contract is to make it clear that the client will share responsiblity for an agreement with an architect. This may scare clients into design and build and reduce work for architects.

Setting out the ground rules for a GP's practice brief
Article Abstract:
Increasing competition in the provision of basic health care is forcing doctors to consider the design of their premises but few understand the complexities of preparing an architects brief. The architect should help the client to define the type of building required by examining its likely pattern of use and the services to be offered. Basic requirements include short distances between waiting and consulting areas, privacy, access for wheelchairs and a relaxing ambience.
