Dundee Arts Centre
Article Abstract:
It is still common in Scotland to use clerks of works on construction projects, according to Bill Black, Richard Murphy project architect for the Dundee Arts Centre. He feels that this project benefited greatly from the input of clerk of works Graham Hutchison. He expresses admiration for the quality of internal metalwork provided by Angus McMurtrie Blacksmiths and for the work of copper cladding subcontractor WB Watson. He points out that using open hoppers instead of standard rainwater drainpipes proved more effective because of the discontinuity of water flow.

Steel - it's the real thing
Article Abstract:
There are a number of benefits associated with using steel in buildings, according to architect Rab Bennetts. In particular, there is potential for making a building's steel structure visible as an internal feature. Steel has appealing straightforwardness, and does not require any veneer. It would be exciting to oversize steel and use it raw. Consideration should also be given to weathering steel, which has a very attractive quality of authenticity.
