Dutch approve RBS bid for ABN Amro
Article Abstract:
The Finance Ministry of the Netherlands has approved a takeover bid by a consortium headed by the Royal Bank of Scotland PLC for Dutch bank ABN AMRO Holding N.V. The Ministry had already approved a rival offer of 57.4 bil euro from UK bank Barclays PLC. The consortium's predominantly cash bid is valued at approximately 70.1 bil euro.

Standard Chartered to buy oil firm

British bank Standard Chartered PLC will buy UK-based petroleum financing firm Harrison Lovegrove and Co. Harrison Lovegrove operates in several international locations, including Calgary, Perth, Houston, Kuala Lumpur, and Moscow and has gross assets valued at approximately $23 mil. The amount of the purchase was not disclosed.
