ENERGY CONSERVATION SCENARIO IN TAMIL NADU
Article Abstract:
India derives a large portion of its wind energy from the sites in Tamil Nadu. Now, Tamil Nadu has an installed capacity of 114 mw of wind power. Wind power projects proposed or are being executed would produce another 100 mw. The largest wind turbine installed is at Muppandal, near Kanyakumari, in Tamil Nadu. Rs529-CRORE DEFICIT IN TAMIL NADU BUDGET
Article Abstract:
The Government of Tamil Nadu has presented its budget for 1999- 2000 with a deficit of Rs529.13 crore. It has imposed more taxes to raise Rs261 crore. The overall deficit is estimated at Rs790.13 crore and the revenue receipts at Rs15,867 crore and revenue expenditure at Rs18,500 crore. The revised revenue receipts has fallen to Rs14,198 crore against the budget estimate of Rs15,039 crore for 1998-99. The revenue expenditure has declined to Rs17,183 crore against the budget estimate of Rs18,048 crore for 1998-99. The overall deficit in 1998-99 was Rs235.73 crore against the budget estimate of Rs876.67 crore. (rk) (kvr)

The Tamil Nadu Co-operative Housing Federation (TNCHF) has achieved a new record by disbursing the highest amount in the co-operative sector in India. The government of Tamil Nadu's has contributed Rs2.83 crore in the share capital of the company. TNCHF has won the HUDCO National Award for the fifth consecutive time. The federation has also been declared as the best managed apex co-operative housing federation in the country. For this it has won 1994-95 national award. (gs)
