Eloquent bodies
Article Abstract:
Jacques Lecoq was a key figure in the theater who died in 1999, and who made his contribution through drama teaching. He sought to explore how actors could communicate with their audiences, and this led to an emphasis on the physical. The body can communicate in ways that words cannot, and this is important in the theater. His former students show great expressive power, and this has led to a change in practices in modern theater. His influence has been important world wide from Chile to Britain.
