Wisconsin Energy agrees to buy Wicor

Wisconsin Energy Corp. has reached an agreement to acquire Wicor Inc. for $1.28 billion (1.23 billion euros) in cash and stock. Wisconsin Energy is an electric and natural-gas utility based in Milwaukee. The deal leads to the formation of a major energy company in the Midwestern US. The newly-merged firm will have almost two million customers and a $7.3 billion market capitalization.
