Article Abstract:
On March 29th, 2004 Nepal's Finance minister Prakash Chandra Lohani announced that Nepal's GDP is likely to increase by 4.6% in fiscal 2004 but he also noted that because of the war, the government's target of lowering the percentage of those living below the poverty level to 32% by 2007 was unlikely to be met. Tourism arrivals are just half of what they once were and hoteliers and tour providers have slashed prices, so earnings from tourism have fallen disproportionately.
