FAA tracking suspect helos
Article Abstract:
The Federal Aviation Administration is tracking the owners of up to 42 helicopters refurbished by a firm that traded in the 1990s as Dynamic Helicopters, Thunderbird Helicopters or World Helicopters. The Clearwater Executive Airpark, FL-based company is under investigation for alleged installation of surplus military parts on different helicopters. Three of these helicopters were involved in fatal accidents. Currently, the firm's owner Richard Naylor is serving a 10-year jail term in Georgia for failure to deliver a helicopter worth $125,000.

Agusta AB319 launch

Agusta will go ahead with a new medium twin helicopter to replace the Bell 212/412 family. The company, which will start delivering in 2002, designated the new 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) gross weight helicopter as the AB139. The 12-15 helicopter, will be equipped with a nosewheel retractable tricycle landing gear. The product, with the main undercarriage retracting rearwards into fuselage sponsons, offers a big and unobstructed flat floor cabin area 2.7m (length) x 2.0 m (width) x 1.42 m (height) with a 1.70 x 1.35 m sliding main cabin door.

Heli Expo '99 report
Article Abstract:
Heli Expo '99, held in Dallas, TX, drew more than 12,000 visitors and was considered a success by most of the participating companies. Among the helicopters exhibited at the event are the Sikorsky S-61NSP and S-55T Whisper, the Brantly B2B and Bell's Revolution Voyager, 427 and BA609 tiltrotor. One of the items discussed at the exhibition is a proposed new law that will grant a community of over 5,000 individuals the authority to regulate their air space, a development that bodes ill for the industry.
