Source Publishers Pvt Ltd of Mumbai has successfully created and marketed a communication resources directory. Named Source, the directory contains information on advertising agencies, music companies, market research agencies and consultants and publishing and telemarketing services. First published for the Mumbai market in 1996, it was later extended to Delhi in 1997. The 1997, the directory sold 7,250 copies of the Delhi edition and 8,100 copies of the Mumbai edition. Plans are afoot to extend the publication to Chennai and Calcutta also. The more recent editions of 1997 and 1998 saw category extensions to cybercafes, hologram printing services, presentation products and services and freelance journalists. Source is marketed through direct marketing, now extended to corporations and bookstores. It is set to go on the Internet and is currently finalising its home page. CHITTARANJAN LOCOMOTIVE WORKS: ON A TRACK TO THE FUTURE

The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) has built 2,351 steam locomotives of five types, 842 diesel hydraulic locomotives of seven types and over 2,500 electric locomotives of 16 types till date. It supplies to Indian Railways. It has standardised its production to two types-WAG 7 class freight locomotive and WAP 4 class passenger locomotive both rated at 5000 hp. It has signed a technology transfer agreement with ADTranz of Switzerland for three phase drive locomotives. During 1998-99, it plans to produce five freight locomotives of WAG 9. It plans to indigenise production of WAP 5 class 4 axle passenger locomotive. The indigenous three phase locomotive will be introduced in a phased manner. It has already indigenised body shell, bogie, wheel sets, axle boxes, gear, wheel set guide and pivot. It plans to develop three phase traction motors and enter the export market. (rk)

INSAT-2E LAUNCH LIKELY ON APRIL 2
Article Abstract:
The Insat-2E, India's most advanced satellite, is scheduled to be launched on April 2, 1999. It is to be the last of the second generation spacecraft to be built by the Indian Space Research Organisation. The Rs22 crore satellite is to be airlifted to Kourou, French Guyana, from where it will be launched by the European Ariane rocket. The satellite has a two-year lifespan and will carry 17 C-band and lower extended C-band transponders and an improved version of a very high resolution radiometer. It will also carry a high resolution charge coupled device camera. Cost of launching the Insat-2E is $69 million while the insurance cover is $12 million. (khr)
