Family at war: Cebu's Osmena clan wracked by political infighting
Article Abstract:
The 1992 Philippine elections sowed discord in Cebu's well-known political family, the Osmena clan. Sen John Osmena initially agreed to run as vice president to Eduardo Cojuangco, but pulled back when his brother Emilio decided to run for vice president. John was reelected senator under Cojuangco's ticket, but Emilio lost his bid. Emilio's wife Annette failed in her bid for her husband's former post, the Cebu governorship, while cousin Sergio III failed in his bid for a congressional seat. Sergio III's brother Tommy remained neutral and got reelected as Cebu City mayor.

Leave it to Lever: consumer-products giant regains top ranking
Article Abstract:
Hindustan Lever recaptured the top position in overall leadership among India's companies, according to Far Eastern Economic Review's third annual REVIEW 200 survey. It has grown strongly and benefits from being perceived as a local company rather than a multinational amid nationalist attacks, as well as from the troubled year of the prior leader, ITC Ltd. Reliance Industries placed second despite a loss of investor confidence, and three companies controlled by the Tata group made the overall top 10, notably Tata Engineering & Locomotive.
