Feeling left out
Article Abstract:
The compilation of economic statistics can leave some countries offended. They may be excluded from tables because their economies are small, or because they are classified as emerging economies rather than developed economies. The labels used to describe economies are outdated, and 'industrial economies' have moved away from industrial production. One suggestion from The Economist has been to call countries 'paralysed' if their economy is not making progress and 'progressive' if they are emerging economies, but many formerly 'progressive' economies have been hit by economies crises.
