Flight check approval
Article Abstract:
ITT Gilfillan Div has reported that its mobile GCA-2000 (AN/MPN-25) tactical precision landing system has successfully passed the Federal Aviation Administration's formal flight check. The system, which was designed to support the rapid deployment US Air Force mission requirements, is transportable via single C-130 and can be set up in less than 90 minutes. In addition, it is capable of providing airport surveillance to up to 30 nm and has a precision approach range of 20 nm.

FAA awards ASDE-X contract
Article Abstract:
The FAA has awarded the Airport Surface Detection Equipment (ASDE-X) contract to the consortium of Sensis Corp and Raytheon Co. The ASDE-X system is made up of Raytheon's X-band surface movement radar and control tower display with Sensis' multilateration and ADS-B sensors and multi- sensor data processor. The system has the capability to display aircraft positions with the appropriate call sign on high-bright 20-in flat screen.
