Frank goes to Panama
Article Abstract:
Panama will take over the canal from 2000, and aims to develop its touriost industry. Frank Gehry is a major US architect who has been called in to help. He argues that architecture can be beautiful and monumental, in addition to being functional, but developing countries often ignore the potential of architecture. He is married to a Panamanian and has already carried out a successful project in Bilbao, Spain, where his museum has attracted large numbers of visitors.
