Article Abstract:
Raab Karcher Staviva (RKS) (Prague, Czech Republic), building materials trade company, expects proceeds of CEK 2.21 bil and a trade profit of CEK 15 mil in 2001. The firm's proceeds rose by 3.7% to CEK 2.08 bil and its profit from trade activities to CEK 5 mil in 2000 compared to CEK 2 mil in 1999. RKS reported a balance loss of CEK 30 mil in 2000, in spite of the growth. The reason for the 2000 loss was the formation of rectifying items of CEK 35 mil within the tightening up of the evaluation of assets according to international accounting standards. In 1999 RKS saw a profit of CEK 53 mil. The company, which has a stock of CEK 723.3 mil and about 400 employees, has a 3-4% share on the domestic building material market. About 99% of the firm's suppliers and consumers are from inland. RKS's parent company with a 95% stake is Raab Karcher Baustoffe (Germany), which is wholly owned by the concern Saint-Gobain (France).
