Article Abstract:
The positive effects of ChinaEs economic growth are rubbing off on its neighboring country Mongolia as well. The country has been able to tap on its natural resources and bring down its large deficit of 1999 to a more manageable level. The privatization trends, taxation and other policies of the Mongolian government are discussed.

The unexpected results of June 2004 Mongolian elections can lead to political uncertainty. The ruling Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party has lost several seats to the Democrats and has ended up with 36 out of the total 76 seats.

Weather has major impact on the Mongolian agrarian based economy. Despite this drawback, the economy is slowly improving with a surge in foreign trade and investment. Nearly 37% of the total investment comes from China.
