HIGHER SALES HELP TELCO CUT LOSS TO Rs21.58 CR

Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company Ltd (Telco) reduced its losses to Rs21.58 crore in the third quarter of 1998-99 (Rs27.66 crore in the same period of 1997-98). The company could cut its losses because of the higher sales volume and operating margins. It had undertaken cost reduction measures too. Its overall sales volume increased by 14.7 percent and sales value by 9 percent. Its sales of commercial vehicles increased from 27,820 to 31,908. (um) (kvr)

HERITAGE FOODS (I) RAISES DIVIDEND ON HIGHER NET
Article Abstract:
Heritage Foods (India) Limited (HIFL) which manufactures milk has posted a net profit of Rs3.04 crore in 1997-98 (Rs2.41 crore in 1996-97). The turnover was Rs62.88 crore (Rs48.63 crore). HIFL has recommended a dividend of 12 percent (10 percent in 1996-97). HIFL sells liquid milk of over 100,000 litres per day (lpd) in Chennai, over 50,000 lpd in Hyderabad, about 25,000 lpd in Bangalore and 10,000 lpd in Visakhapatnam. (gs)
