ATF PRICES MAY BE CUT BY 15%
Article Abstract:
The government is expected to cut the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by at least 15 percent, by putting it under declared goods list and reducing sales tax levy. This will help domestic carriers in enhancing profit margins and may also result in a reduction of air ticket prices. Domestic carriers currently pay about Rs15,000 per kilolitre of ATF while Indian Airlines pays about Rs8000 per kilolitre when flying routes outside India. Domestic carriers have to pay sales tax, imposed by state governments, ranging between 18 to 25 percent. (khr)
