SHRI SHAKTI LOWERS PRICES FOR LPG REFILLS FROM MARCH 30
Article Abstract:
Shri Shakti LPG, the biggest private sector liquefied petroleum gas company in India, has decided to reduce the price of refills from March 30, 1999. The refilling cost of a 12 kg cylinder will be reduced to Rs210 from Rs220 while that of a 15 kg cylinder will come down from Rs277 to Rs262. This reduction is being effected as LPG import price has come down by Rs0.34 per kg as a result of Customs duty being cut from 23.2 percent to 18.8 percent. The company has decided to pass on the price reduction to its 3.50 lakh customers spread across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Goa and Orissa. (khr)

HINDALCO HIKES DISCOUNT LEVEL TO Rs3,000 PER TONNE

Hindalco, a leading aluminium company of India, has increased the trade discount for all its aluminium products to Rs3,000 per tonne. The company has not made any downward revision to its base price. Hindalco's decision follows the price cut by National Aluminium Co (Nalco) and Madras Aluminium Company. During the end of July 1998, Hindalco had hiked the prices of ingots by Rs2,500 per tonne and the wire rods by Rs2,900 per tonne. (gs) (psr)
