Heralding a new renaissance
Article Abstract:
Chris Purslow is director of architecture for Glasgow, Scotland City Council. He has worked in private practice and local government and is firmly committed to Glasgow and its people. He likes the continuing responsibility for design and the challenges of dealing with a large property estate and a changing population. Purslow works in a transparent office, setting an example to his staff and maintaining approachability. He has doubts about the effects of compulsory competitive tendering but sees opportunities in the reform of local government. He aims to help the renaissance of Glasgow as a European city.
