Hoogovens doesn't expect profits to increase in 1998
Article Abstract:
Koninklijke Hoogovens NV of the Netherlands is expecting its net earnings to remain unchanged at an estimated $263.2 million for 1998. The profit warning is attributed to the worsening economies of Russia and countries in Latin America, as well as the force of the crisis in Asia. The steel maker earlier said potential difficulties in Asia are causing uncertainties in North American and European markets, with the risk anticipated to materialize in the second half. Hoogovens is the Netherlands' fourth blue-chip firm that issued a profit warning.
