Hotels reconsider suite dreams

Hotel chains in China are reconsidering their hotel-building plans in light of the apparent hotel glut in the country. Several hotel chains ahve started making more frugal accommodations since the increasing number of business travelers are lower-level managers who seek cheaper facilities. According to the China National Tourism Administration, the number of China's upscale hotel rooms jumped 22% to 593,696 between 1995 and 1996.

Bombay flaunts quaint comfort and convenience
Article Abstract:
India's hotels are sprucing up their customer service in an attempt to boost occupancy rates in lew of the drop in the rates of business travel. The Oberoi Hotel, Oberoi Towers, Taj Mahal Hotel and the Hotel Marine Plaza are all vying for customers through major improvements in the services they offer. The hotels are showing greater flexibility in terms of rates and are increasingly upgrading their facilities.
