How the construction industry sees the architect's role
Article Abstract:
A group of architects, project managers and clients discuss the role of the architect in large projects. Client representatives criticise architects who seek too much influence over the client at an early stage. They do, however value architects' creativity and inspiration and see them as guardians of both the project and the public interest. To this extent, clients condemn procedures that limit architect's power but they believe architects should concentrate on their traditional areas of expertese. Architects point out the naivity of some clients. The group agree on a list of good qualities for architects.
