There are three ways to ease menstrual cramps. The traditional way is by taking over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The second is by limiting intake of caffeine, red meat, and salt. The third is holistic, involving exercise, massage, acupressure and warm baths.

Menstrual cramps and other pain associated with menstruation can be relieved through dietary restrictions, acupuncture, chiropractic manipulation, biofeedback and herbal remedies. The cause of dysmenorrhea is mostly hormonal in nature, but stress can also be a factor.
