Hunting for Internet ideas: Web site providers seek entrepreneurs
Article Abstract:
Two Hong Kong Internet service providers have come up with an interesting promotional idea, devising a program which will lure Internet entrepreneurs to their service. Hong Kong Star Internet Ltd. and Hong Kong Telecom IMS Ltd. are trying to attract Hong Kong entrepreneurs with their ideas that can be executed on the Internet. Both companies will provide the technical support and funding for the winning virtual enterprise idea. Many analysts believe that the idea is novel enough to merit attention, but reaching a critical mass of Internet users in Hong Kong for a viable Internet business may be hard to achieve due to the limited market in the island and the myriad of regulations surrounding Internet commerce.

Indonesia struggles with obstacles to providing fast Internet service
Article Abstract:
Indonesia's slow growth as a user of the Internet can be attributed to its geography, economic condition and to the interest it still has to generate among the populace. Geography is the biggest hurdle to establishing a nation-wide use of the Net because Indonesia is composed of thousands of islands which are spread over a wide area. A combination of land and submarine cables is needed or another option is the more expensive satellite link. The economic crisis has also hit Internet service providers hard because they are mostly billed in US dollars.
