IIP SHOWS DIP IN INDUSTRIAL GROWTH
Article Abstract:
The Centre for Statistical Organisation has stated that the industrial growth rate was 3.5 percent in the 9 months ended December 1998 (6.7 percent in the same period of 1997). The index of industrial production (IIP) was 3.2 percent in December 1998 (7.2 percent). The manufacturing sector grew by 3.1 percent (7.6 percent). The mining sector recorded a negative growth of 1.6 percent (7.5 percent). The electricity sector grew by 8.1 percent (3.1 percent). The basic goods sector grew by 1.2 percent (6 percent). The intermediates sector grew by 2.5 percent (10.3 percent). (rk) (kvr)
