Article Abstract:
IRI will close by mid-2000 despite media reports, according to an unidentified senior official at the Italian state holding corporation. Chmn Gian Maria Gros-Pietro told Il Sole-24 Ore, a business newspaper, that he anticipated transferring IRI's remaining interests in Italian ferry company Tirrenia and state broadcasting corporation RAI to its shareholder, Treasury.
