Identification of transshipment center locations
Article Abstract:
A heuristic method was used in the determination of the appropriate location and number of transshipment centers. A case study was conducted on General Motors Corp (GM) using its data on productive material shipped into GM's North American assembly plants. The proper location and number was evaluated based on minimum-size requirements and maximum-capacity constraints. Results showed that the site of small facilities is flexible and that bigger facilities incur cost penalties when moved from their optimal locations.

Multiple objective analysis of long-term development strategies for a national economy
Article Abstract:
A multiple objective analysis approach is used to analyze long-term national development strategies. The Generalized Reachable Sets (GRS) method allows multiobjective evaluation of probable outcomes given the economic performance indicators. The results indicate that in a transition from an old to a modern technology, the former should be used to complement the latter with regard to consumption level and investment.

Multiobjective, preference-based search in acyclic OR-graphs
Article Abstract:
A multiattribute preference function and a multiobjective reward structure incorporating heuristic information are both used to determine a preferred path from a start node to a goal node set in an acyclic OR-graph. The results show an algorithm which selects the most preferred path. It shows how Artificial Intelligence techniques can be utilized in the solution of multiobjective problems.
