Images lure home buyers
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong's Law Reform Commission intends to crack down on fraudulent advertising claims by home developers. The commission wants housing developers to concentrate on the facts, such as actual floor plans and dimensions, when making their advertising pitches to consumers. The proposed new laws, which the Housing Bureau is presenting to the Hong Kong Legislative Council in 1998, intend to set stricter guidelines for such claims by developers and allow the consumers to sue firms that break their promises.

Hong Kong's landlords are cutting down office rents
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong's landlords are reducing rent costs as the city will be inundated with an 8 mil sq ft of office space, in 1998. According to one landlord, landlords who acquired large amounts of space which they had expected to resell, now need to rent their space. The reduced office rents are welcome news for office tenants as they now have an abundance of choice and are negotiating excellently long rent-free periods from landlords.
