Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom market for in-car entertainment equipment reached 415 million pounds sterling in 1994 following a 21% decline in sales in real terms during 1990-1992. The market comprises the aftermarket and original equipment sales. Sales of aftermarket radio cassette players reached 106 million pounds sterling in 1994 to account for 56% of sales by value and 80% by volume. Original equipment sales are forecast to rise 15% during 1995-1999 at 1995 prices, while aftermarket sales are expected to grow 21%. The in-car entertainment equipment market is examined.

Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom retail market for video cassette recorders (VCRs) grew 5% per year by volume on average during 1991-1995, and around 2% per year by value in real terms. Penetration grew to 84% in 1995 from 70% in 1990. Sales of VCRs which cost less than 200 pounds sterling grew 73% during 1991-1995, while sales of VCRs which cost more than 350 pounds sterling fell 31%. VCR rental volume declined 19%, partly because of increased ownership. The VCR retail market is examined in detail.
