In praise of amateurs
Article Abstract:
Amateurs can make major contributions to scientific research in a range of fields, including astronomy, ornithology and palaeontology. Dangerous fields such as chemistry are excluded, as are those requiring heavy investment. Recognition is a contentious issue, since amateurs may not be reimbursed for costs or be mentioned in papers.

Never mind the language: in praise of swearing
Article Abstract:
Swearing has become more commonplace and more widely accepted. This is unfortunate, because words and phrases that were once reserved for highly emotional moments are used freely and, therefore, lose their impact. Swearing was more effective when employed sparingly.
