Baltica's faulty towers

Denmark-based insurance firm Baltica has losses of over $150 million for the first half of 1992. A possible fraud involving its Europort project in Gibraltar could produce more losses. Barely 10% of the office and hotel space at Europort has been rented.

The Ministry of Finance is allowing insurance companies to borrow from banks t finance bond issues for the first time in almost 50 years. The Ministry hopes to keep insurance companies from withdrawing bonds from the stock exchange.
