Article Abstract:
Singapore is determined to become a regional information technology (IT) centre. One of its key IT projects is One Network For Everyone, under which every home, school and business will be linked to a wide range of services, including home tuition, Internet access and government information, by the end of 1998. The government wishes to ensure that Singaporeans have IT skills, recognizing that these skills can play a key role in economic growth. The IT industry could expand by between 5% and 10% in 1998, despite the regional economic crisis.

The consolidating financial services market needs to ensure it keeps up with technological advancements in the field of financial planning and advise, with the legal profession needing to make a concerted effort to embrace new technology.
