Japan in the right
Article Abstract:
Japan has refused to apologise to China for past actions during the 1930s and 1940s. An apology may be due, but not to the Chinese government in power since the Chinese Communist party has itself killed Chinese citizens through prison camps and famine which resulted from the wrong policies. Japan has also taken a correct stance on its position toward Taiwan. Relations between China and Japan are likely to be difficult for some time, and it is important for Japan to maintain a firm stance to help promote regional stability.

A question of meaning
Article Abstract:
Relations between China and Japan are difficult, and there is a great deal of effort put into diplomatic statements on issues such as Taiwan, where there are disagreements. Japanese aggression against China during the 1930s and 1940s is another difficult issue, and there has been a failure to reach agreement on a written apology from Japan. Japanese rule of Taiwan was much gentler than its behavior in mainland China, and there are warm unofficial cultural and political links between the two.
