Just as ugly
Article Abstract:
Burma's military government is seeking to create a more positive image, changing its name from the State Law and Order Restoration Council (Slorc) to the State Peace and Development Council. This is made up of 19 military men, many of whom are regional commanders rather than the leading generals who were predominant in Slorc. There are a number of civilians among the deputy ministers, most of whom come from the Union Solidarity and Development Association. Moves to create a new image may well have been prompted by the economic crisis in Burma.
