Just do it: why Apec doesn't matter
Article Abstract:
Many Asian businesses are becoming more international in their focus, with 21 of the top 25 transnational companies based in the developing world being Asian. This level will rise as Asia continues to attract a large share of the world's investment capital. Some observers feel that the measure of a company's worth is now becoming more intellectual than physical, with the processes which are involved in making a product becoming more important than the product itself. The most competitive companies are those which can take advantage of the efficiencies of others, rather than just their own.

Still, Asia's dynamic companies must overcome domestic limitations and regulation.

The diversification and expansion strategy used by Asian conglomerates to improve their position in the international marketplace makes sense in terms of exploiting acquired skills and assets in economies of scale. It is easier to diversify in to other markets once a certain threshold is reached in the market share of a certain commodity.
